    Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge has five nature trails that wind through forested and wetland habitats. These trails consist of dirt, fine gravel, and boardwalk surfaces and bicycles are not permitted on these trails.

    Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge has many miles of gravel roads and levees. Some of these are closed to vehicles seasonally and others are closed to vehicles year-round. This guide describes several routes that can make for longer hikes and bicycle rides. Use caution when using these routes as you may encounter motorized vehicles and farm equipment on these roads.

    Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge offers over 16,000 acres of water to explore by canoe and kayak. This guide describes several of the most popular places to put in your kayak on the refuge.
