About the presenter:
Christopher Joe is a native of Greensboro, Alabama. He is a graduate of Alabama A&M University with a BS in Agribusiness Management (cum laude 2007).
He is a District Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture. He is married to Christy Joe, and they have a 4-year-old daughter named Summer Grace and they reside in Montgomery, AL. He has two older brothers and a younger sister.
He started Connecting with Birds and Nature Tours, LLC on October 31, 2018, to diversify the Joe family’s Black Angus cattle farm. The property has been in the family since the mid-1800s. It is located on 200 acres in Newbern, Alabama. The property consists of pasture, bottomland hardwood, and a creek. This diverse habitat encourages birds and wildlife of multiple species to visit and even call the Joe Farm home.
He hosted his first birding tour at the property for Alabama Audubon and graduate students from the University of Alabama on February 16, 2019. To date, they have hosted over 600+ visitors. They have been featured in multiple publications and on television, on the cover of a magazine, and on the upcoming Nat Geo Wild & Disney+ show called “Extraordinary Birder with Christian Cooper.”
They offer other activities such as nature walks, biking, and even traditional camping. They are accessible to all visitors as they have an 18-foot trailer with a spring-loaded ramp for wheelchairs and people with mobility issues.
